"Little-Judoka" Judo Class

Kids classes at Shidokai Judo focus on the basic elements of judo - the throws and the pins - in a fun and safe way, with the utmost attention given to each individual child from our JudoBC qualified instructors, whether they wish recreational enjoyment or competitive success.

Our classes are a great way to instill a love for activity and fitness in your child, and are a great way to build strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and confidence

But more than offering simply physical benefits, our judo classes will instill discipline, control, and patience through various forms of training.

What is learned on the mats through hard judo training transfers at home, at school, at work or at play.  These values include:

playing by the rules

co-operating with others

respecting self and others

self-discipline and humility

self-confidence and commitment

perseverance and determination

Reasons to DO Judo

Judo is physical training …
enhancing balance, speed, flexibility, body awareness, stamina and strength.  Techniques learned on the mat support and compliment other athletic pursuits.

Judo is life skills training …
learning to respect yourself and others, commitment, concentration, strategic thinking and analysis.  Skills learned in judo enhance academic and career pursuits.

Judo stretches both the mind and the body.

Judo is teamwork in action …
practicing skills and techniques on another and allowing them to practice on you.

Judo is strategy …
in competition, success is not related to physical strength, but to your ability to turn an opponent’s strength and skill to your advantage.

Judo is fitness and fun in a safe and supervised environment!

Judo is tradition …
Judo has come a long way from its inception in Japan by Professor Kano in 1886.  It continues to offer personal and physical development, competition, camaraderie and enjoyment to practitioners around the world.

Judo is Sport …
from high performance as part of the Summer Olympics to local tournaments, competitive opportunities exist for beginners and experienced alike.

Judo is dynamic, exciting and challenging!

Though training is dynamic and fast paced, basic skills are gained quickly and enable everyone to feel success in judo right from the beginning.
