2013/2014 Judo Season

Tuesday September 10th marks the official start date to the new season.  The dojo will be switching from summer hours back to regular training hours.

Juniors (ages 6-12) : Tuesday/Thursday 5-6:15pm
Seniors (ages 13+) : Tuesday/Thursday 6:30-8:30pm

JudoBC Papaerwork will be provided at the dojo, or you can log onto the JudoBC website (www.judobc.ca) and can be found under Member service, Forms, Individual Membership Form. 
JudoBC Dues this year are the following:

Juniors are $55/year
Teens and older $75/year
Blackbelts are $80/year

Looking forward to seeing everyone back on the tatami.

New judo season is upon us.

September 10th, 2012, marks the beginning of the new judo season.  Juniors judo will be back up and running at its normal time of 5-6:15pm.  From 6:30-8:30pm you will find the teens and adults hard at work shaking off the summer rust and getting ready for the upcoming judo season.

Island Team Training

This Saturday, October 1st, at 10:30am, the island has organized it's first team training for the season. It will be at the Nanaimo Judo Club (Click for Map) and open to competitive 13 year olds and older.

Beginning of a new season


Its the beginning of a new judo season and some of the yonkyu's (orange belts) are trying to shake off the summer rust, with a little "throw for throw".

Kids 5-12 start at 5pm, while Teens and Adults start at 6:30pm.
Practices are on Tuesday and Thursday nights

To begin, all you need to do is show up at the dojo on a training night.

World Police And Fire Games

This years competition was in New York where Wayne Unger, Christian Dupuis, and Matt Morin of the Victoria Judo club traveled to compete.  All three of them faced some stiff competition, and the tournament had them fighting till after 2am.  Both Wayne and Christian walked away with Bronze in judo, while Matt scored a bronze in wrestling.

Mudansha (non-black belts)
U7  (0-6 years)  $55.00
U9  (7-8 years)  $55.00
U11  (9-10 years)  $55.00
U13  (11-12 years)  $55.00
U15  (13-14 years)  $70.00
U17  (15-16 years)  $70.00
U20  (17-19 years)  $70.00
20+  (20 and older)  $70.00

Yudansha (black belts)
U17  (15-16 years)  $75.00
U20  (17-19 years)  $75.00
20+  (20-64 years)  $75.00
65+  (65 and older)  $30.00


There have been a few changes to the yearly dues.  They used to be divided between blackbelt and non-blackbelt.    Now dues are broken down by age as well as colored rank.
